SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Under No Child Left Behind, Estacado High School must offer free tutoring in reading, math, or science to students who receive free or reduced lunch meals. These tutoring programs, supplemental educational services, provide extra academic assistance for eligible children to increase achievement on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). The tutoring may be held at various locations such as at EHS, on-line, or a location determined by the provider and student.

Parents may choose the tutoring company from the linked list of state approved providers. As long as your child continues to be eligible for free or reduced lunch for 2009-2010, the tutoring will be of no cost to you up to the district’s per pupil allotment. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2010.

Estacado High School held a provider fair to give parents the opportunity to visit with the state approved providers at Back to School Night, September 21, 2009, 6:30 - 8:00. The process is relatively simple to enroll your child in supplemental educational services is relatively simple:

• Click here for a list of local providers:  Local Providers

• Select 3 providers

• Complete an enrollment form: English

• Return form to school campus

Currently, Estacado has 710 students eligible for free tutoring with 240 enrolled in the program. We would like to see more eligible students taking advantage of the free tutoring. Please feel free to contact the Estacado SES contact, Stacy Caviel-Watson, 766-1400 or District SES Coordinator, Denise Mattson, 766-1192.
